The grass is always greener and why a dog is mans best friend

Living on an island certainly has its benefits. That said, I came across this post today on landscape photography by the guys at  It got me thinking about all the things in life I really value and really miss: mountains, the great outdoors, unknown travel  and adventure, sharing moments of infinite beauty, my girlfriend . . . it also made me think if I leave this Island would I have the same longing for the things I value about living here too?  To get my head around this weird impulse I did some reading on the psychology of why the grass does indeed always seem greener, leading me to this post on presence, unconditionality, acceptance and connection.  To cut a long story short we need to think more like dogs.
